"Podere Leccetro" is an agricultural business of 18 hectare of woodland, at 400 metres above sea-level, lying on the province border between Siena and Grosseto. The farm is situated between the "Crete Senesi" and the "Colline Metallifere", between the valleys of the rivers Merse and Farma. "Podere Leccetro" produces monoflora-honey with the queen bees bred and raised using biological methods. The forest is composed of oak, holm-oak and chestnut trees, which invite you to venture in long, quiet, meditative walks, perhaps even with the thrill of finding mushrooms and ready to encounter hares, deer and wild boars and to observe circling birds of prey.

From March to October guests can assist in the various procedures used in the breeding and raising bees until the extraction of the honey. More than 300 bee-hives are regularly moved near to the various flowers for the production of monoflora-honey, such as acacia, chestnut, sunflowers and strawberry-trees, the so-called "Corbezzolo". It is even possible to touch the bees at their work, or simply have an excellent breakfast with freshly "pinched" honey. You may also partecipate in the birth of a queen bee. In winter, the main activity is concentrated on wood-cutting for home- heating and the sale of timber for log-fire burning. The shed that once protected the old farm cart and tools has now been adapted as a carpenterīs workshop for repairing the bee-hives and the restoration of antique furniture.
