Übersetzung ungenügend. Our holiday house “Il Vecchio Forno” is situated in the very central Via Boccaccio, in a red-brick building dating back to 1200, a few steps from the Pretorian Palace; it was the ancient seat of Certaldo Alto bakery, now transformed into a comfortable house with old style furniture.
The old part of the village, on top the hill, is linked to the modern trade and shopping centre by a funicular, as well as by two roads; the railway and highway allow to reach easily the major cultural cites in Tuscany, Florence, Siena, Pisa, Volterra and San Gimignano. During the summer season the village offers a rich variety of cultural, musical and artistic events which reach the climax in July with a medieval market festival and street theatre “Mercantia” , which has achieved great success and fame in the last few years.
